    Knowing how to do business in Canada is integral. The following steps show you how to sell on Shopify.

    1. Sign Up For Shopify’s Free Trial

    You can learn to do business in Canada via Shopify. It is risk-free for 14 days, and this includes all of the bells and whistles. During the free trial period, you can launch your online store, sell in person & on social media sites, and explore other sales channels. In case you decide Shopify is apt for you, simply choose your plan level and continue growing your business in Canada.

    1. Select Your Sales Channel

    After you register, Shopify’s quick-start wizard keeps popping up to help you set up the essentials. Moreover, Shopify will automatically offer you an online store, but that’s just one of the many ways to sell your products on Shopify. You can further connect to other sales channels, like in-person sales & social media.

    The quick-start wizard helps you connect Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, etc., to your Shopify dashboard. Remember not to be afraid to explore your sales channel alternatives in Shopify. Also, you can change your selections anytime under the ‘Sales Channels’ tab in the dashboard.

    1. Set Up Payments

    You can easily activate Shopify Payments in the quick-start wizard to accept debit card, credit card, & in-person payments with simple flat-rate processing charges.     In case you sell in person, you can also add manual payment methods like cash & checks. Click the ‘Payment’ tab under ‘Settings’ to add or edit your payment methods anytime.

    1. Create Some Collection Pages

    Collections help you organize products & you set these up in the ‘Collections’ tab under ‘Product’ in your Shopify dashboard. Give each collection a title & short description to help with search engine optimization. In addition, collection pages can self-populate using tags or other product details as you add different products to your Shopify store.

    1. Add Some Items To Sell

    You can simply sell all kinds of goods via Shopify’s versatile platform. In case you have products or services to sell, you can also enter those by clicking the ‘Add Product’ button under the tab ‘Products’ in the Shopify dashboard.  

    Shopify’s Product details include: 

    • Item Title

    Create a descriptive item name to appear on your store’s pages, on sales channels & in search results.

    • Item Description

    Enter a detailed description of your team with features, benefits, & sizing tables or options lists.

    • Photos & Videos

    Showcase product features & details with images, 3D model files, & videos.

    • Pricing

    Enter your retail sale price, compare-to prices, plus track the product cost.

    • Inventory Data

    Add the product stock keeping unit, item barcode, stock quantity, & location it’s sold or shipped from.

    • Shipping Data

    For custom details & printing shipping labels, enter item weight for international sales.

    • Product Options

    List all of the options that customers/ shoppers can choose, like size & color.

    • Item Page SEO

    Customize a short product listing snipper to help with search engine optimization.

    • Select Sales Channels

    Select where you want to display & sell each product.

    • Organize Products In Your Store

    Use item type, tags, & vendor details to auto-populate collection pages & improve store search features.

    1. Set Up Your Shopify Online Store

    Once you have a few collections & products set up in your Shopify dashboard, you are ready to build your online store.

    • Select A Theme For Your Store

    Shopify assigns a default theme, however you can replace this with your choice of over nine free themes or shop many paid premium themes.

    • Customize Theme Settings

    Click on the ‘Theme Settings’ tab to personalize your store. You can quickly change colors & fonts to make the store your own for a quick launch. Also, over time, you can explore other alternatives, like adding new block sections into your home page & building YouTube blog content.

    • Edit The Store Header

    Select ‘Header’ to edit content which appears at the top of every page of your store. This is where you can edit store name typefaces or add your logo.

    • Customize Your Home Page

    The home page is built using Sections like slider images, collection collages, contact forms, featured products, etc. In addition, all themes have home page sections that are already in place for a quick launch.

    • Set Up Policy Pages

    The shipping, return, and privacy policy pages help set expectations with shoppers. You can also add these using the Pages tab under ‘Online Store.’

    • Create Store Menus

    Go to the ‘Navigation’ tab; you will find it under ‘Online store’ to set up store menus. In addition, for a swift launch, populate your header menu with product collections & add up policy pages to your footer menu. These are simple to edit as your store expands. 

    • Edit The Site Footer

    Select ‘Footer’ to edit content which appears on the bottom of each page of your store. Well, this is an ideal spot for contact information, an email list sign-up, as well as a menu with links to policy pages.

    • Set Up SEO Details

    Customize your store’s SEO title & meta tag in ‘Preference’ under the Online Store tab.
